Smoking transformer shuts down part of Salt Springs Road

Youngstown Firefighters and a crew from Ohio Edison were on the scene of a smoking electrical transformer on Youngstown's Westside Friday morning.

YOUNGSTOWN - Youngstown Firefighters and a crew from Ohio Edison were on the scene of a smoking electrical transformer on Youngstown's Westside Friday morning.

Salt Springs Road was shut down just west of Route 711 shortly before 11 a.m. Crews say they expect it to reopen fairly quickly.

According to Youngstown Fire Batalion Chief, Fred Beehler tells 21 News a secondary power line dropped down on a cable line. Crews are currently working to get the power line off of the cable line.
