Sebring man pleads insanity in alleged drugging, raping of teen

YOUNGSTOWN - A Sebring area man named in a ten-count indictment alleging that a 14-year-old girl was drugged and raped, has entered a plea of "not guilty by reason of insanity".
The attorney representing 36-year-old Michael Vanhorn has asked the court for a psychological examination.
The Mahoning County Violent Crimes Task Force arrested Vanhorn in March of last year after he and his wife, Kara Vanhorn, were indicted by a grand jury.
According to Smith Township Police, Michael Vanhorn gave the girl wine, marijuana, and Xanax before allegedly raping her.
Police say the couple frequently allowed juveniles to drink alcohol and smoke pot at their home in the Tecumseh Village Mobile Home Park.
Michael Vanhorn is charged with rape and three counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.
Kara Vanhorn faces trial on a charge of endangering children.
Both also face charges of corrupting another with drugs, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and failing to comply with the law prohibiting underage alcohol consumption.
