WARREN, Ohio - As a measure designed to curb gun violence, Warren City Council members have approved an emergency ordinance opposing renewing liquor permits for two convenience stores in the city.
Voting Wednesday night, council members are asking the Ohio Liquor Control Board to deny renewed licenses for the Big Apple Supermarket and Pit Stop convenience store, which are located along Route 422 near Kenilworth Ave. SE. Neighbors claim the businesses are major areas for violence.
The city has 30 days prior to the renewal license to submit the recommendations to the liquor board.
City leaders say if they see safety improvements at the stores, they could potentially cancel their objection.
