YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Friday marked day four. of the trial against Austintown Trustee, Steve Kent, who is accused of sexual battery against a student during his time as a resource officer for the Poland Local School District.

The jury of seven men and seven women heard testimony from an Charles Thomas, an IT Official from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI). The BCI official testified that a location sharing app known as Life360, was used to gather information about the interactions between Kent and his alleged victim.

Prosecutors showed spreadsheets containing dates, times and locations, along with phone numbers and IP addresses between April and June of 2021. This data showed that the closest distance between Kent and the alleged victim was "a couple hundred meters."

Data from April 29 showed that the two were both near each other at the same time near the Southern Park Mall.  Another set of data from May 1 showed even more points of data showing dates and times near the mall on adjacent streets and in the mall itself.

Authorities also tried using social media apps to track locations, but at this point, it's unclear if they were tracking the location of Kent or the alleged victim at any given time.

The defense has had a little help from the BCI testimony, as it appeared that certain questions that should have been asked weren't asked. BCI officials questioned the alleged victim on what she had told investigators initially.

The defense has been trying to pick apart the limitations of this data and questioned the BCI expert on his experience with the Life360 app.

Following a break, questioning continued, this time aimed at chief of the Poland Police Department Greg Wilson, with the defense asking the chief if the alleged victim "liked" Kent and whether or not there was conflict because the allegations were against one of his own officers.

The defense also grilled the chief about interviews with the alleged victim's friends and asked about the forensic analysis of a stuffed animal. The prosecution also asked about this stuffed animal asking if the alleged victim had received it around Valentine's Day.

A video was also shown of the alleged victim parading a "Junior police officer" badge and Kent riding a bicycle.

The trial is set to continue Monday.
