Francona preparing to step aside after season

Guardians manager Terry Francona admitted during his pregame appearance with the media that "its the world best kept secret" that he's stepping aside at the end of the year.
Francona's 11 seasons as manager of the Indians/Guardians ends this weekend in Detroit.
His last days managing at Progressive Field end Wednesday night.
"I met with the guys today because I thought I owed them that," said Francona. "I'll continue to do what I do until the last game and then it'll be different."
Francona says he's grateful for his 11 seasons in Cleveland adding he enjoyed coming to work today and I'll do the same tomorrow.
"I'm not all the caught up in what I'm doing," Francona said adding he made the decision in June or July.
Francona joked that "once you give put t-shirts you can't go back" adding he does not want to be part of the team that decides his replacement.
"I think they (President Chris Antonetti & General Manager Mike Chernoff) know how I feel about our coaches but I don't think that's fair to them or the next person to put my stamp on it. Their may be someone who comes in completely different that might be better."
Francona says it's been an honor to be part of the franchise for 11 seasons.
