Local mental health agencies facing mental health provider shortage

A shortage of mental health professionals is reaching alarming levels in the Valley.
The lack of employees leave agencies like Compass Family and Community Services in Mineral Ridge, grappling with the rising demand for support.
Executive Director of the Mahoning County Mental Health and Recovery Board, Duane Piccirilli, said new applicants for some of his agencies are scarce.

Mental health professionals are utilizing every avenue to rebuild their staff.
Like offering a $3,000 sign on bonus for new employees at Compass, along with Gov. Mike DeWine's million dollar initiative to encourage students to pursue the mental health field.
