Brightside Project toys donations down when the need for toys is up
For eight years the Brightside Project in Salem has been helping kids and teens in Columbiana County throughout the year, and at Christmas. "Right now we are gering up for the kids 3 to 18 years old, everyone in Columbiana County.

For eight years the Brightside Project in Salem has been helping kids and teens in Columbiana County throughout the year, and at Christmas.
"Right now we are gering up for the kids 3 to 18 years old, everyone in Columbiana County, all children in those age groups. Next weekend if our Bright Christmas event. It's our eighth one. It's at our facility in Salem," Scott Lewis, Executive Director of Brightside Project said.
But with toy drives ending this week the Brightside Project in Salem is finding that it may not have enough toys to help all kids and teens who need help in Columbiana County this Christmas.
"We have bins out all over the place, but we are hurting with toys. We're hoping we will have enough to give each child two, plus a bag of stocking stuffers," Lewis added.
This at at time when the number of families needing help to provide gifts is up but the donations are down.
"Parents are struggling and a lot of grandparents now raise thier grandchildren, and they're having a hard time as it is, and they're very grateful," Lewis emphasized.
At it's big Bright Christmas event for kids December 16th, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m, hats and Scarves will be given away, along with a bag of groceries.
Santa and Mrs. Clause will also visit.
Donations are especially needed for teens. Mugs with a gift card from Dunkin, Starbucks, and stores are possible suggestions.
