A Trumbull County couple was convicted in court on Monday for what prosecutors describe as "over-the-top" discipline of their children.

According to the Trumbull County Prosecutor's Office, both 46-year-old Dennis Williams and 38-year-old Erica Williams of Farmdale pled guilty to charges against them.

Erica pled guilty to a fourth degree felony charge of attempted endangering of children and Ennis pled guilty to a first-degree misdemeanor charge of endangering children.

The charges stem from an incident in November of 2022 when police say the couple disciplined their daughter by pushing her head under the water in a bathtub.

Additionally, police say both of the couple's children had bruises on their arms from being "grabbed and restrained" by their parents.

The couple will be sentenced following a background investigation on the couple. Erica could face a maximum of 18 months in prison and Dennis could face a maximum of 180 days in jail.
