SOUTHINGTON, Ohio - A Southington man involved in a hit skip crash on New Year's Eve in 2021 has learned his fate.

According to the Trumbull County Prosecutor's Office, 55-year-old Pete Urick was sentenced to four years in prison on two counts of failure to stop after an accident and one count of tampering with evidence.

He must also pay more than $2 million to cover the victims' medical expenses and lost wages.

The charges stem from a hit skip crash on Corey Hunt Road on New Year's Eve in 2021 when Urick struck scooters rode by Leona and David Fisher. The two suffered serious injuries in this crash.

Prosecutor's say Urick tried to hide the damage from police by purchasing new parts for the vehicle involved in the crash.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, Urick has a criminal past including an involvement in a fatal vehicle crash in 1990, as well as "a long list of other criminal offenses."
