WARREN TWP., Ohio - The suspect in an arson incident in Warren Township that claimed the lives of two people has been deemed incompetent to stand trial.

According to court employees, 72-year-old Carroll Bruton was deemed incompetent to stand trial. He's charged with multiple counts of murder, arson and aggravated arson.

The charges stem from an arson incident in January of 2024 at a home on Miller Street where Bruton used to live according to court records.

Authorities found the bodies of 82-year-old Roscoe Toles and 51-year-old Etiane Whitaker inside the home. 

According to court employees, Bruton is currently at Heartland Behavioral Health in Massillon, Ohio and will undergo another competency hearing in the next 90 days.
