Liberty School Board VP accused of OVI in car versus pole crash resigns
Liberty Local School Board Vice President Christopher Brookbank, who was accused of OVI in a car versus pole crash back in December has resigned from his position.
21 News has obtained a copy of a letter of resignation for Brookbank stating that his resignation is effective as of March 1, 2024.
In his letter Brookbank thanked the school board for the opportunity to serve the position over the past several years.
"We have faced some challenges and have spent countless hours working for the greater good for the future of this district," Brookbank wrote.
Brookbank was charged with OVI as well as leaving the scene of an accident after a crash that occurred back in December of 2023 where police say Brookbank's car smashed into a utility pole at the corner of Logan Way and Churchill Hubbard Road.
Police say Brookbank was not at the scene of the accident, but was eventually found stumbling. Police say Brookbank admitted to being at a bar that night but told officers he did not believe he struck the pole.
According to police, Brookbank refused to submit to field sobriety tests or a breathalyzer test.
Brookbank pled not guilty to his charges back in December and his case is ongoing with his next hearing scheduled for March 20.
Brookbank's letter can be read in its entirety below.
