Hens, cats, dogs rescued from condemned East Liverpool home

EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio - The Columbiana County Humane Society is caring for more than 20 animals rescued from a condemned East Liverpool home.
Humane agents and shelter managers helped members of the East Liverpool Housing Department at the home in the 1200 block of Saint George Street.
They found 13 hens at the home, three of which were left in a plastic tote, six cats who are covered in scabs, have fleas and are suffering from hair loss. Two dogs were also taken out of the home. The dogs are also suffering from hair loss, have fleas and toenails long enough that it hurts them to walk.
All of the animals are getting medical care and attention from staff members at the Columbiana County Humane Society.
A staff member told 21 News the animals are doing well and will be up for adoption when they are medically cleared.
Charges are pending.
