PennDOT to display plans for East State Street improvement project in Sharon

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is inviting the public to view plans for its multimodal project along Route 518.
Work will be done to East State Street from North Sharpsville Avenue to North Oakland Avenue and a small portion of Pine Street.
Proposed improvements will include replacement of existing curb and sidewalk, curb ramp updates to be ADA compliant and planting of appropriate trees and landscaping.
Additionally, new drainage infrastructure on both sides of the road will be put in to control flooding in the area, according to PennDOT.
Work is expected to begin in 2024 and continue through the 2025 construction seasons.
Some detours will be expected for pedestrians, while none are planned for motorists. However, lane restrictions are expected and traffic will be controlled by flaggers at times.
Plans for the project can be viewed here. This includes a handout, digital plans and a comment form.
The comment period for this project will be open until May 6, according to PennDOT.
The project is being funded through a federal Surface Transportation Grant, which was awarded to the city in 2022.
