The public is being asked for their insight on whether additional safe guards are needed to protect consumers from having their signatures used without their full knowledge or consent.

The feedback will inform Attorney General Dave Yost's office as it considers new safeguards for consumers.

A proposed administrative rule could require businesses that solicit signatures during transactions with a customer to get consent and explain how they plan to use the signature in future communications, according to a news release from Yost's office.

This initiative stems from an investigation into signatures from people showing up on pro-fracking letters that advocated for oil drilling in state parks without their consent.
