Boardman School officials have revealed that they plan to name East Palestine Schools Superintendent Christopher Neifer to replace Tim Saxton who is retiring at the end of July.

The Boardman Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 6:30 tonight in the Boardman High School cafeteria where they are expected to recommend Neifer for the position.

According to a news release from the district, board members believe Neifer is most aligned with the qualities and experience to fit the needs of the Boardman, and that those involved with the district expressed they valued most.

Neifer has been an educator for 28 years, including time as a science teacher, coach, and elementary and high school principal.  For the past 6 years, Neifer has served as the Superintendent of East Palestine City School District.

“We believe Chris is a proven leader, as shown through his navigating an unimagined community crisis. He’s a seasoned educator, and as a resident of Boardman with a child attending school here, he is keenly aware of the Spartan tradition of excellence,” said Boardman Board President John Fryda.

The choice of Neifer follows a lengthy search by the board.
