Tuesday marks the first day for cannabis dispensaries with dual permits to sell recreational marijuana in Ohio.

Four Valley dispensaries are set to begin recreational sales including FRX Health in East Liverpool, G Leaf in Warren, Green Leaf Therapy in Struthers and Leaf Relief in Youngstown.

21 News has confirmed at least three dispensaries have begun recreational sales including FRX Health in East Liverpool, G Leaf in Warren and Green Leaf Therapy in Struthers. Leaf Relief in Youngstown tells us they are starting recreational sales on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, A Cut Above in Hubbard will not be selling recreational marijuana due to City Council banning the sale of recreational cannabis in the city. However, a petition is circulating to have that ban overturned.

Our 21 News crews observed a line out the door at all three dispensaries in the area. Customers leaving FRX Health said they waited about an hour and a half to get their products. A police officer patrolled the parking lot at G Leaf as the line grew and customers leaving Green Leaf Therapy said it was about a 20 to 30 minute wait for their products.

”At least for me, it’s really no different than alcohol,” Jonathan Smith, a recreational marijuana customer said. “I’ll take a couple beers or a couple shots and that will relax me but sometimes I don't feel like drinking so it’s just nice to pop a gummy or two then just relax.”

However, just like alcohol, there are limits to how much marijuana you can buy or have on you at once and where you can use it.

Ohio law allows for a maximum of 2.5 ounces of any product except for extract products. The legal limit for that is 15 grams.

Additionally, Ohioans are not allowed to drive while high or have an open container in their car. Ohioans are also not allowed to use marijuana outside of their homes or designated areas where it is allowed.

According to a press release, certain products like pre-rolls or high potency concentrates (over 70% THC) will not be available until full adult-use rules are in effect sometime in the fall.
