New Castle woman pleads guilty to conspiring to distribute fentanyl, fluorofentanyl
37-year-old Kailin Stewart pled guilty to conspiring to distribute 40 or more grams of fentanyl and 10 or more grams of fluorofentanyl between May of 2021 and October of 2022.
A New Castle woman has pled guilty to conspiring to distribute fentanyl and fluorofentanyl on Wednesday.
According to a press release, 37-year-old Kailin Stewart pled guilty to conspiring to distribute 40 or more grams of fentanyl and 10 or more grams of fluorofentanyl between May of 2021 and October of 2022.
According to the University of Victoria, fluorofentanyl is a fentanyl analog with the addition of a fluorine atom.
There are several subtypes of fluorofentanyl, which vary in potency with some being twice as strong as traditional fentanyl.
Stewart is scheduled to be sentenced January 8, 2025. She could face up to 40 years in prison, a fine of up to $5 million or both. Her sentence will be based on the seriousness of the offense or her past criminal history, if any.
