YOUNGSTOWN - The Arizona man accused of leading police on a chase that ended in Canfield will appear before a magistrate in U.S. District Court in Youngstown Tuesday to answer a charge of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

A federal grand jury handed up the charge against 36-year-old Jeffrey Battle of Phoenix, Arizona following a high-speed chase that began in Youngstown on August 14.

Authorities say after Battle drove his car into the front yard of a home in Canfield, agents found 88 pounds of methamphetamine in the car as well as a kilo of cocaine with an estimated street value of $105,000.

According to an affidavit, the Mahoning Valley Law Enforcement Task Force (MVLETF) and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) have been investigating Battle since April.

Agents say battle distributes "significant quantities" of narcotics in the Mahoning Valley area despite living in Arizona. Police say he was also known to do business in the Akron, Ohio, and Erie, Pennsylvania areas.
