Ambulance stolen from Warren Township Fire Department found in Youngstown
Police in Warren Township are investigating after an ambulance was stolen from the Warren Township Fire Department Friday morning.
Warren Township Trustee Edward Anthony tells 21 News the ambulance was taken from the Warren Township Fire Station on North River Road around 6 a.m. Friday. Anthony says this is an unmanned fire station.
Authorities were alerted of the theft a few hours later after a passerby noticed one of the station's garage doors was open.
21 News has obtained surveillance video from the Youngstown State University Police Department that shows the ambulance entering the Wick Avenue parking deck followed by exiting and continuing towards Downtown Youngstown.
This video was captured shortly before 11 a.m.
The ambulance was found in Homestead Park in Youngstown around 1 p.m. The ambulance's light bar and rear bumper sustained minor damage.
Anthony says there is a "strong suspect" in this case, but is not revealing the suspect's identity at this time. Authorities still do not know how this suspect was able to get to the ambulance.
The incident remains under investigation by the Warren Township Police Department.
