COLUMBIANA COUNTY, Ohio - The trial of a man accused of killing his ex-wife and former Leetonia teacher has been delayed.

William Long Jr., 51, is charged with aggravated murder, murder, discharging a firearm upon a roadway, and firearm specifications.

The charges stem from the shooting death of Leetonia teacher and coach, 50-year-old Michelle Long, who was found dead outside her Carey Road home in Butler Township last November.

In the months following the incident, detectives and investigators with the Columbiana County Sheriff's Office and Major Crimes Task Force reviewed digital and forensic evidence that led to William being charged and indicted.

Deputies say Michelle's body was found in her truck with the door open and engine running. William had been involved in divorce proceedings with Michelle.

Michelle served as a math, STEM, and industry teacher and coach at Leetonia High School since 2015.

His trial is now scheduled for April.

He remains in jail on a $1.5 million bond.
