Newton Falls drama teacher surprised with $1,000 mini grant to for classroom projects

A drama teacher at Newton Falls High School received quite the surprise last week with a $1,000 mini grant.
Newton Falls drama teacher Scott Szeljack received a surprise visit from area business woman Shannan Jursa who presented him with a $1,000 check as part of Jursa's "Crash A Class" mini grant program Monday, February 10.
According to a news release, this program recognizes teachers who go above and beyond to engage students and foster a love of learning.
Recipients of the mini grant must be nominated by their principals. Szeljack was nominated by Newton Falls High School Principal Rachel Rankin.
The funding from the mini grant will be used to support innovative classroom projects.
According to the Newton Falls Exempted Village School District's website, these include resources that could bring students' performances to life through set design, costumes or technology enhancements.
It is unknown what specific projects this funding will go towards at this time.
