Lawrence County DA warns residents of ongoing law enforcement scam

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Pa. - The Lawrence County District Attorney's Office is spreading awareness of an ongoing scam that has costed residents thousands of dollars.
It's claimed that scammers are posing as law enforcement officers and contacting individuals, falsely claiming they have an outstanding warrant for their arrest.
Scammers provide official-looking documents stating that failure to pay to "quash the outstanding warrant" will result in arrest.
The scammers use a VPN to hide their location and create a call scrambler to display Lawrence County numbers with law enforcement names attached.
If you are contacted by anyone claiming to be in possession of an arrest warrant for you or others, you're asked to contact the Lawrence County Sherriff's Office at 724-652-5121 or the agency they are claiming to represent.
Law enforcement officers will never contact individuals demanding/requesting money in exchange of an outstanding warrant.
Residents are urged never to send money or purchase gift cards for any online or phone request.
