The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) released a list featuring 320 former government properties now being put up for sale, including the Nathaniel R. Jones Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse.

The GSA's non-core property list consists of many former government properties that are considered no longer essential to the core operations of the government.

The courthouse has hosted notable tenants such as the U.S. Bankruptcy Court as one of northern Ohio's only five U.S. bankruptcy courts, Internal Revenue Service, U.S. Marshals Service, and GSA.

The 43,587-square-foot building was first built in 2002 in honor of former federal judge and Youngstown native Nathaniel R. Jones who retired the same year.

Nathaniel Raphael Jones was born in Youngstown on May 13, 1926 and throughout his time as an attorney was a part of many landmark civil rights cases and decisions, including Reed v. Rhodes and the Mississippi Boycott case.
