The Wilmington Board of Education approved a name change for Greyhound Stadium at a meeting Tuesday night.

The stadium will officially be 'Terry Verrelli Stadium' in honor of the longtime football coach. The name change will go into effect July 1, 2025.

"To go out there on a Friday night, the first time that they announce that the game is being played at Terry Verrelli Stadium, it will definitely be very special," said Brandon Phillian, Wilmington head football coach. "Not only for me on a person level but so many people that he has influenced over the years as a football coach here."

Verrelli coached the Greyhounds for 40 years and racked up 314 wins. He's one of 15 coaches in Pennsylvania to have more than 300 wins.

He led Wilmington to a state championship in 2008 and two other appearances in the title game.

Verrelli stepped down as head coach in 2017 and returned as an assistant in 2023.

He was also a teacher in the district for 39 years.
