Greenville man sentenced to 8 to 12 years for OVI hit skip

VERNON TWP, Ohio - A Greenville man who pled guilty in March to an OVI hit skip crash in Trumbull County has learned his fate.
A bailiff at Judge Ronald Rice's court tells 21 News 35-year-old Joshua Butler was handed an indefinite sentence of eight to 12 years in prison.
Butler was sentenced on charges of aggravated vehicular assault, failure to stop after an accident, OVI, assault and possession of a fentanyl-related compound.
The charges stem from a hit skip crash that happened in Vernon Township back in July of 2024 when Butler was driving a pickup truck on SR-7 when it veered off the road causing an oncoming SUV to veer off the road into a ditch.
Butler never stopped for the accident.
Three members of a family from Masury were all taken to the hospital to get treated for injuries.
