BROOKFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio - The auction being held for the sale of Brookfield's former George A. Nicholas football field has concluded at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, May 19.

Basinger Auctions owner Paul Basinger told 21 News that Brookfield Schools Treasurer Jordan Weber was pleased with the winning bid amount for the field and bleachers.

The top bid for the 8.75-acre property was $196,000 with a 10% buyers premium, bringing the total for the field itself at $215,600. There were a total of 234 bidders on the property before the conclusion of the auction.

There were also three sets of bleachers from the field on sale during a separate auction held.  Two separate buyers split the three sets and put in invoices for the bleachers, beating out 408 other bidders and bidding a combined total of $53,096.

In total, the real estate and the bleachers are likely to net $268,696 combined.

Basinger added that he could not disclose who the three winning bidders were in this auction until Wednesday, when Brookfield's school board will be voting to approve the purchases.

The meeting to approve these purchases will be held on Wednesday, May 21 at 6 p.m.
