Warrant issued for woman indicted in connection with raid at Hubbard massage parlor
WARREN, Ohio - A warrant has been issued for a woman who was indicted in connection with a human trafficking raid at a Hubbard building owned by a Trumbull County Commissioner after she did not appear for her arraignment.
Furong Li was scheduled to be arraigned in Judge Ronald Rice's court Thursday morning. However, she did not show up, causing the court to issue a warrant for her arrest.
Li's attorney was in the courtroom and told Judge Rice he wasn't sure if Li was properly notified that she had to appear at the hearing.
Li was arrested in late February following a human trafficking raid conducted at 3C Foot Spa in Hubbard, which was housed in a building owned by Trumbull County Commissioner Rick Hernandez.
Hernandez had gone on record with 21 News, including an interview on 21 News at 5 p.m., denying any knowledge of illegal activity going on in the building and claimed that human trafficking allegations were "politically motivated."
However, Hernandez was captured on police body camera footage over one month prior to that interview with a Hubbard police officer warning him of suspected illegal activity in the building.
Hernandez also spoke via Facebook live streams, denying knowledge of any illegal activity.
The spa has since closed down and the building is currently vacant.
