AUSTINTOWN - As electricity rates increase nationwide, Austintown Township trustees hope to lower prices for its residents.

Austintown's current electricity aggregate doubled in 2024, but this year, residents can choose to sign up for a different aggregate for a lower cost.

While trustees say the new contract is trending towards a lower rate for customers, residents still have the option to look elsewhere for lower rates.

"They're more than welcome to opt out if they think that they can find a cheaper rate, but right now, we're doing our very best to advocate for our residents to lower the burden in their household," said Trustee Robert Santos.

Santos went on to say trustees are consistently looking for lower electricity rates for the township.
