Help available to those affected by explosion at Austintown apartment complex
AUSTINTOWN - Help is available to all residents who have been displaced following an explosion at an Austintown apartment complex over the weekend.
The United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley has teamed up with several local non-profits, including Catholic Charities, MYCAP, the American Red Cross and Direction Home to make sure everyone has a roof over their head.
United Way of Youngstown Vice President Roxann Sebest tells 21 News displaced residents have been moved to either assisted living facilities or a hotel, with the non-profits covering their stays.
Sebest says no matter how long it takes for residents to get an update on if they can come back home or where they should go, they will continue to assist them however they can.
United Way is seeking monetary donations to make this continuous support possible.
Additionally, Lakeside Realty in Austintown will be accepting donations for affected residents as well.
Lakeside Realty's office on South Canfield-Niles Road in Austintown will serve as a drop-off site for donations to support residents affected by the explosion.
"We understand how devastating this event has been for our community and we want to do our part to help those impacted," the company said in a statement.
Donations can be dropped off during Lakeside Realty's business hours, which are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The office will be closed on Thanksgiving and Black Friday.
