COLUMBUS, Ohio - The United Auto Workers (UAW) union has endorsed Youngstown native Amy Acton for Ohio Governor.

In a press release, the union voiced its support for Acton, citing "her commitment to working families and her dedication to lowering costs and standing up to corporate greed."

"Ohioans don't need another corrupt politician backed by billionaires. We've seen too many leaders who are afraid to pick a side. Dr. Acton will shake up the status quo, put working people first and stand with the UAW in our fight for a better life," said UAW Region 2B Director Dave Green.

Acton is also quoted in the release expressing her gratitude for the union's endorsement of her campaign.

"This storied union has been one of the key institutions that built America's and Ohio's middle class. I've stood on the picket line with members of the UAW and will continue to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with them to fight for good Ohio jobs, including fair wages, safe workplaces and strong benefits," Acton said.

Acton is the only Democratic candidate in the 2026 Ohio Gubernatorial Race. Former Valley Congressman Tim Ryan had considered running as well, but decided against it.

The UAW is the latest of several endorsements for Acton, including one from actor and Youngstown native Ed O'Neill
