1 person in critical condition after Austintown apartment shooting

AUSTINTOWN - A detective with Austintown Police Department has confirmed to 21 News that there has been a shooting at the Compass West Apartments in Austintown.
According to a press release from Austintown Police, the incident began with gunfire exchanging between two males in the hallway of the apartment complex. One of the males was struck by gunfire and transported to the main campus of St. Elizabeth's hospital. He is currently in critical condition. A second male struck by gunfire also arrived at the hospital and is now in stable condition.
The investigation is ongoing but Austintown Police Chief Valorie Delmont said in the release there is no current danger to the public.
Several police cruisers were seen at the Compass West Apartments on Compass West Drive in Austintown shortly after 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, with crime scene tape outside of the buildings.
