Former Austintown rehab owner indicted on abduction charge

AUSTINTOWN - A former Austintown rehab facility owner has been indicted on domestic violence and abduction charges.
According to court records, Ryan Sheridan, who formerly owned Braking Point Recovery in Austintown, was indicted on one third-degree felony charge of abduction and one first-degree misdemeanor charge of domestic violence.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred in October of 2025, when police say Sheridan slammed his ex-girlfriend down to the ground twice during an argument.
Before this alleged offense, Sheridan had been on supervised release following his 2021 conviction in a multi-million-dollar healthcare fraud case. Sheridan denied violating the terms of his supervised release.
Sheridan was convicted in federal court of dozens of charges related to the fraud, where authorities alleged that Sheridan and his associates fraudulently billed the Ohio Medicaid Program approximately $48 million for drug and alcohol recovery services that were often not provided or medically necessary.
He was placed on supervised release in November of 2024.
