Lawrence County to receive nearly $2 million in funding for park, recreation projects

Several parks and recreation projects around Pennsylvania are set to receive funding as part of a nearly $82 million investment in state funding.
Lawrence County will see nearly $2 million in funding.
The funding is being administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR)'s Bureau of Recreation and Conservation under the Community Conservation Partnerships Program (C2P2).
Of the nearly $2 million being distributed, five Lawrence County projects will see funding.
The Foundation for Sustainable Forests will receive $1,503,800. The funding is intended to go towards the acquisition of about 671 acres in Pulaski Township for open space and passive recreation.
Lawrence County will see $36,000. This money is intended to prepare a master site development plan for the 293-acre Quaker Falls Recreation Area in Mahoning Township.
Additionally, Lawrence County will see $100,000 to be used in the development of the Stavich Bike Trail in Union Township. The work for the project will include the rehabilitation of about 1.4 miles of trail, with ADA access, landscaping, project signs and other related site improvements.
Pulaski Township will recieve $60,000 to add pedestrian walkways and parking areas, along with installing playground equipment in Pulaski Park.
Lastly, Taylor Township will receive $99,700 for the rehabilitation of Taylor Township Park. Work would include adding pedestrian walkways and installing a playground.
In total, the funding distributed equals $1,799,500.
