Bazetta Township Amazon warehouse to open in early spring
BAZETTA TWP., Ohio - The Amazon warehouse coming to Bazetta Township is expected to open early Spring. With only months left of waiting, there are only a few final touches that need done.
Michael Hovis, Bazetta Township Trustee, said the trustees are waiting for an official notice from Amazon with the opening date and hiring numbers.
While the exact number of needed employees has not been announced yet, Hovis said Amazon’s initial plan was to hire between 120 to 200 people. He expects the company will start hiring soon.
Once opened, the facility is expected to bring thousands of dollars in tax revenue.
“It brings a good tax base. We turned blades of grass into the $30-million structure for taxation. So, [the warehouse] brings a couple hundred thousand a year to the school, a little bit more to the township, $30,000 to $40,000 extra is what we’re predicting. So, we can use that with upgrading some of our infrastructure at the township,” said Hovis.
Hovis said that work is complete.
“The sewer lines have been installed. The construction of the building’s up and running. The parking lots [are] all in. Perkins Jones road has been widened at Larchmont ave. It's been repaved,” said Hovis.
Hovis took a tour of the facility Friday, and said he was excited to see where things stand after over a year of work.
“We had this parcel of land that we thought was, you know, it's in our industrial zone of the township. Great location, great access to the bypass, easy to get to in and out,” said Hovis.
Hovis said he expects the warehouse to open in late March or early April.
When asked about the progress of the Bazetta township warehouse, an Amazon spokesperson told 21 News "The Bazetta Amazon is currently under construction and anticipates launching in Spring 2026. We will be sure to keep you informed as there is further development."
