The appeal of a Greenville man convicted of his involvement in a hit-and-run crash that injured three people in Trumbull County has been denied.

Back in May of 2025, 36-year-old Joshua Butler was sentenced to eight to 12 years in prison on charges of aggravated vehicular assault, failure to stop after an accident, OVI and possession of a fentanyl-related compound.

Butler appealed this sentence, claiming that the trial court injected itself into plea negotiations before the agreement was finalized, and that Judge Ronald Rice sentenced him to a term exceeding that of the plea agreement.

However, both claims were found to be without merit, and Butler will continue to serve his sentence.

Butler was convicted in connection with a hit-and-run crash in July of 2024, in which Butler ran another vehicle off the road and into a ditch on State Route 7 in Vernon Township and did not stop.

Three people from Masury were injured as a result of the crash.
