Candidates, issues on the 2026 ballot for Columbiana County voters

The Columbiana County Board of Elections has released its list of election filings that will appear on the May 5, 2026, ballot. The deadline to submit all Democratic and Republican petitions of candidacy for the primary election has passed. Here are local party candidates who have filed for Columbiana County races. County contests include Judge of Court of Common Pleas Probate/Juvenile Division, County Commissioner with a January 1 Term and County Auditor.
Thomas Baronzzi (R) will appear on the Judge of Court of Common Pleas Probate/Juvenile Division ballot.
On the County Commissioner ballot, Mike Halleck (R) will appear.
For the County Auditor Race, Nancy Millken (R) will appear on the ballot.

Federally, two races are up for voter choice, including U.S. Senator and U.S. Representative to Congress for the 6th District.
Six people have filed to appear on the ballot for U.S. Rep. to Congress for the 6th District, including:

State races include Governor and Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Auditor of State, Secretary of State, Treasurer of State, Ohio Justices of the Supreme Court, 7th District Court of Appeals Judge, State Senator of the 33rd District, State Representative of the 79th District, State Representative of the 59th District, Republican State Central Committee - broken up between a female and a male candidate - and the Libertarian State Central Committee.
Four people have filed to appear on the 7th District Court of Appeals Judge ballot, including David Comstock (R), Mark Anthony Hanni (R), Molly Johnson (R) and Donald Scott (R).
State Senator of the 33rd District will also have two names appear on the ballot, including Al Cutrona (R) and Michael Kripchak (D).
State Representative of the 79th District will have two names appear, including Monica Robb Blasdel (R) and Bob Guy (D).
The Republican State Central Committee has seen two men file to appear on the ballot: David Johnson (R) and Christopher Zelonish (R).
Candidates who have filed petitions still need to have the filings confirmed, ensuring that they meet the Board of Elections requirements.
To do so, filings must have at least 50 valid registered voter signatures for major parties and 25 signatures for independent candidates.
The filing deadline for independent candidates is May 4.
