Process to demolish Rite Aid, build new Circle K in Newton Falls moves forward

The process to demolish a standing Rite Aid and construct a new Circle K in Newton Falls is moving forward.
On February 7, 2026, a Notice of Intent (NOI) was filed with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Division of Surface Water for the proposed location of a new Circle K.
The site the permit applies to is located at 325 West Broad Street in Newton Falls.
Currently, a Rite Aid building is situated on the property.
The NOI filed with the Ohio EPA approves the site's stormwater general permit, the first step the company needs to take in order to begin demolishing the Rite Aid building while remaining in compliance with water pollution standards related to construction site run off.
The Ohio EPA approved the NOI on February 18.

The Village of Newton Falls Planning and Zoning Commission met on December 10, 2025, approving variants for the Circle K.
