Warren man pleads guilty to shooting at police officers

WARREN - A Warren man who was accused of shooting at police officers in 2023 has pleaded guilty.
An employee at Judge Sean O'Brien's court tells 21 News that 21-year-old Davonte McElroy pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted murder with firearm specifications, as well as one count of tampering with evidence.
Two felonious assault charges will be dismissed as part of a plea agreement. A sentencing date will be set following a pre-sentence investigation.
McElroy's charges stem from a shooting that occurred near the corner of Austin Avenue and Ward Street back in October of 2023.
Warren police said a masked man wearing a red hood ran down the driveway of a home and fired several shots at two detectives who were driving in the area.
Police later obtained a search warrant for the home and found the mask and hood on the kitchen floor.
McElroy was eventually found and arrested in Columbus in July of 2024.
