AUSTINTOWN TWP., Ohio - AUSTINTOWN - Residents and small businesses in Austintown Township will soon receive letters about enrolling in an electric aggregation program through the Northeast Ohio Public Energy Council (NOPEC).

The township recently joined the program, which allows communities to negotiate electric supply rates for customers. Eligible accounts will automatically be enrolled in NOPEC's standard program unless customers choose to opt out.

For the first three months, participants will receive a fixed electric supply rate of 8.99 cents per kilowatt-hour, starting with bills sent in June. Other options offered by NOPEC include a monthly variable rate that is a discounted rate off the utility's price, 12- or 24-month fixed term options, and 100% renewable content electric options.

Electric service will not be interrupted. Ohio Edison will continue delivering power, maintaining lines and sending monthly bills.

Customers who do not want to participate must return the opt-out form included with their enrollment letter by the deadline listed in their individual letters.
