Columbiana man accused of arson, assault expected to plead next week

COLUMBIANA CITY - A Columbiana man who is accused of attacking a woman and attempting to burn a mobile home down with her inside is expected to plead next week.
According to court records, a plea hearing is set for 66-year-old Fredrick Harroff on Thursday, March 26, in Judge Scott Washam's court in Columbiana County.
Harroff is currently facing several felony charges, including attempted murder, kidnapping and strangulation, as well as two counts each of aggravated arson and felonious assault.
It is unknown if any charges will be amended or dropped as a result of the plea.
The charges stem from an incident in June of 2025 in a mobile home park in Columbiana, where police say Harroff hit a woman with a baseball bat, punched her, strangled her with a rope and threatened to kill her and burn the home down with her inside.
Police say Harroff set the home ablaze and fled the scene. Harroff was soon found with severe burns to his hand, feet and face, according to police.
Furthermore, police say a search of the home revealed a gas can nozzle on the kitchen floor and the can itself in a bedroom closet. Additionally, police say the gas meter outside appeared to have been sabotaged and was leaking gas.
