Athletes gather for Inspiring Minds golf outing

Posted: Updated:

WARREN, Ohio - Athletes and celebrities from across the country turned out for the 2nd annual Inspiring Minds Celebrity Golf Outing at Avalon Lakes in Warren.

The athletes were there in support of Deryck Toles, a Warren Harding graduate and former NFL player who founded Inspiring Minds seven years ago to inspire and empower young people to overcome obstacles in their lives.

Toles says it means a lot to have the backing of these professionals.

"We feel like the kids are the most valuable resource you can have and so the fact that they're coming out and giving their time, we're really appreciative," says Toles.

Inspiring Minds has worked with hundreds of kids over the past seven years and currently has 200 enrolled in it's summer enrichment program.

All proceeds from Friday's outing will go to benefit the non-profit organization.
