Humane agents investigate animal cruelty case in Youngstown

Posted: Updated:

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Humane agents say they found three emaciated dogs in deplorable conditions on the lower South Side of Youngstown.

One of the puppies was found dead in the cage that was set outside in the rain on Parkwood Avenue.

Animal Charity Humane Society Agent Christopher Flack says the dog was trampled by the other two animals but a necropsy will be done to determine the cause of death.

Flack says "the situation was deplorable, the animals smell horrible and when we transported, the van is we're going to have to literally clean the entire van out."

"There was no food or water and they were totally exposed to the elements and they're soaking wet."

Animal cruelty charges are pending.

Flack says recent changes to Ohio law are helping them enforce animal cruelty laws in cases like this one.
