YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Just a few houses down. on the very same street where and abused dog was found, humane agents rescued 46 cats, four dogs and two ferrets Wednesday afternoon.
The ferrets appear healthy and playful, but according to humane agents most of the cats tested positive for disease.
More than 50 animals were rescued from a home at 488 Norwood, on the city's North Side as officers checked out leads on an unrelated case of abuse.
Nikole Baringer from Animal Charity said the house was in deplorable conditions with fecal matter and flies all over the place.
Baringer said humane agents removed animals from the home and they're here now at Animal Charity for medical evaluation.
Authorities say many of the cats had open wounds.
