Live racing canceled at Mahoning Valley Race Course

The snow and sub-freezing temperatures didn't keep horses away from the starting gate at the Hollywood Gaming Mahoning Valley Race Course on Tuesday.
Whenever the temperature dips below freezing crews work round the clock to keep the track clear and the surface ready for racing.
"But, if you look out there now, despite the weather that we've had overnight and this morning the tracks in excellent shape. There were horses exercising this morning, training this morning, the jockeys seem to think it was good as long as it's safe we're good to go." said Mark Loewe, Vice President of racing.
Perhaps to prove that the weather is not a factor, the winner of Tuesday's first race set a track record time.
However, due to expected cold weather and high winds forecasted for Wednesday, live racing has been canceled and will resume Saturday afternoon.
Full card simulcasting, which is conducted daily, will be available.
This is the first cancellation, which began live racing last November, officials said the lost racing day will be made up at a future date.
