ALLIANCE, Ohio - The US Army Corps of Engineers announced that repairs at the Berlin Lake Mill Creek Recreation Campground have been completed ahead of schedule.

They are preparing to open the Alliance area campground for walk-in campers on Monday, June 29th.

The campground had previously been closed since Army Corps officials discovered severe damage in the campground's sewage system. The engineers assessed that winter damage to the transmission system had caused a loss of sewage service to 90 percent of the campground.

Repairs to the system began in late May and were completed this week. Thus, after being originally slated to reopen in July, the campground will be opened several days early.

In addition to accepting walk-in campers on the 29th, the National Recreation Reservation System will begin accepting online and phone reservations effective immediately.

Anyone who wishes to reserve a campsite during the campground season can do so by visiting www.recreation.gov or calling 877-444-6777.
