Youngstown simplifies and expands fall leaf pickup

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The City of Youngstown says leaf collection will be bigger and better this fall for city residents.
Starting October 26, people will no longer have to put out their bagged leaves on specially scheduled days. Instead, leaves will be picked up on regular trash days.
Also, all brown compostable leaf bags will be picked up within city limits. Residents no longer need to sign up or register for pickup.
A specially designated truck will be used from Monday, October 26 through Friday, December 4 to pick up all leaves bagged in compostable paper bags throughout the city on trash day.
The truck is separate from the regular garbage truck pickup, so that all leaf bags are taken to a compost facility and will not go to a landfill.
Green Youngstown will still distribute approximately 7000 free bags for Youngstown residents, but any paper bags residents purchase at local retailers (Home Depot, Lowe’s, Walmart, etc.), also will be picked up for composting.
Bags are available for pickup in Green Youngstown’s office on the third floor of the City Hall Annex Building 9 W. Front St., Youngstown, Monday-Friday 8am-4pm starting October 5th.
