State budget impasse impacts Mercer seniors

MERCER, Pa. - Senior citizens in Mercer County will begin feeling the effects of Pennsylvania's four-month budget stalemate.
The Mercer County Area Agency on Aging has issued a statement saying that effective next Monday, the agency's Senior Centers and Older Adult Day Service Program on North Buhl Farm Drive in Hermitage will be closed until further notice.
All agency-related activities which are hosted by those sites will be cancelled.
The agency says the closure is necessary because of the lack of funding due to the state budget impasse.
The agency administrative office in Mercer will remain open to service in-home service consumers
The Hermitage Senior Center, 220 N. Buhl Farm Drive, will be open as polling place on election day.
