SHARON, Pa. - One of the oldest stores in downtown Sharon will soon close its doors forever.
The Army Navy Store has been a fixture in Sharon since 1947.
Harmon Lustig's father and uncle opened the business just after the end of World War II.
Since then it's been a place where people could find military surplus items and camping and hunting equipment.
Harmon says it's time to retire at age 79. He's been working in the family-owned store since he was 16.
"We made a lot of customers and a lot of friends. A lot of people have come in since they knew we were closing up and they say they are sorry we are going. they said they came here when they were kids, their fathers and mothers brought them in," says Lustig.
The Army Navy Store always had a little bit of everything. boots, backpacks, even canteens.
That's usually why people came in, to look for something they didn't even know they needed.
John Jablonski, of Brookfield, says, "I shop here all the time and I'm sorry to see the store close. It has a lot of good items in it. I'm an ex-serviceman and I like to stop in and check out the items."
The owner says everything will be on sale until everything is gone. He expects to close the doors officially at the end of this month.
