A sign of prevention and awareness in Warren is missing from the lawn of city hall.

Earlier this month, more than 16-hundred pinwheels placed in the lawn to raise awareness for child abuse. The next day the pinwheels were gone.

Letters from Warren's Human Resources Department addressed to Mr. Celestino Divieste say he failed to remove the pinwheels before mowing the grass at City Hall. As a result, the pinwheels were destroyed.

Divieste was found guilty of neglect of duty during a pre-disciplinary hearing earlier this month and ordered to make restitution or face a three day suspension.

Mayor Doug Franklin says the detail of the restitution are still being worked out.

Meanwhile, the big question remains how could someone run over 16-hundred pin wheels? 21 News tried to reach Divieste at his home but, no one answered the door.

Trumbull County Children Services, who organized the display, say they don't care to know the details.

"It wasn't an issue for us, we were just so pleased and blessed that we were hosted and that we got the word out so effectively on child abuse," said Executive Director of Trumbull County Children Services Tim Schaffner.

Trumbull County Children Services says they plan to return the pinwheel display to City Hall next year.
