A Warren man accused of leading police on a pursuit through residential neighborhoods Tuesday afternoon faces several criminal charges and traffic violations.

A Warren police detective who had pulled over a car for a traffic violation on Jackson Street SW says the car sped away as the officer was getting out of his car to approach the suspect's vehicle.

Police say the suspect drove through a back yard on Delaware SW and several other streets in the area, dropping a gun from the car along Phillips Street.

The chase, with speeds reaching around 60 miles per hour, continued to the 1200 block of Pearl Street, where the driver of the car jumped out and began running through the yards.

Two other detectives caught up with the suspect as we was trying to enter a house on Oak Street.

Police identified the man as 22-year-old Derrick Talley, who was already wanted on two previous warrants for failing to appear to answer charges filed by the Ohio Highway Patrol.

Police recovered a loaded 9mm handgun they say Talley had tossed on Phillips Street.

Talley was booked into the Trumbull County jail on charges of carrying a concealed weapon, failure to comply with police orders, driving without a license, and failing to use turn signals.

He was arraigned in Warren Municipal Court by way of video teleconference and is scheduled to appear before a judge next week.
